Fosa Wall Tiles
The Fosa Wall tiles were inspired by the lines created on circuit boards. The channels created by the raised surfaces on these wall tiles add elegantly soft shadows to the tiles. These tiles can be arranged in any orientation to create a new design.
Installing them is very simple. They have a french cleat hanging mechanism that allows you to remove the tiles and change the orientation with ease.
Material used:
Mdf
PVC Plastic
Dimensions:
Each tile is 16 x 16"

The Process...
To make these wall tiles the process started with making models out of foam board and using AutoCAD to visualize the design in repetition. Once the final form was decided I made a wooden mold of the tile shape. To do this is used the CNC router to cut the pieces out mdf board. I then attached all the pieces together
to form the mold. In order to ensure that the mold would realese from the plastic after thermoforming
I made sure to sand all the edges roughly 6 degrees. After completeing the mold I moved on to thermoforming the tiles.

Thermoforming
After the thermoforming process I used a bandsaw to trim off the excess plastic on the tiles. I then used a heat gun to melt the edges of the tiles and fold them behind in order to create a smooth edge. This edge is also part of the french cleat hanging mechanism.
